Sexual Trauma
Sexual trauma may occur as the result of unwanted sexual experiences. Sexual trauma can alter an individual’s view of the world and affect how he/she approaches life. These experiences can also directly affect the individual’s personal or professional life for many years. Just as each person is unique, so too is the journey towards recovery for each individual. However, it is possible for survivors to heal and live a fulfilling life. Recovery does not have to be pursued alone. Sharing with other survivors in a group setting can reduce the sense of isolation that is often felt after experiencing a life-altering event. Connecting with others can also provide a safe environment where trust and other crucial life skills can be gradually be restored.
About Us
Soaring Sisters, Inc. was established May of 2016 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to help meet the needs of female sexual trauma survivors (ages 19 and up). This ministry is designed to empower women with a history of rape, sexual exploitation, incest, human trafficking, or childhood sexual abuse. Soaring Sisters, Inc. strives to equip sexual trauma survivors to share their stories on their own terms, in their own time. Soaring Sisters, Inc. believes freedom and true recovery comes through the inside-out, transforming power of the Living Word. This ministry is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that does not discriminate.
